Dr Duncan Laurenson

Specialising in the medical aspects of addiction, such as withdrawal treatment (detox)
Dr. Duncan Laurenson has 15 years’ experience in addiction medicine. He is currently working clinically at two prominent Clinics in Cape Town – Kenilworth Clinic and Stepping Stones. He has recently completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Addiction Care at the University of Cape Town.
His interest lies in the medical aspects of addiction. Particularly, withdrawal treatment (detox). He is currently engaged in a project monitoring treatment outcomes in various clinical settings.
Dr. Laurenson is also a member of the Service Quality Measures (SQM) committee. This South African Medical Research Council committee initiative measures the quality of treatment in South African substance abuse treatment centres. In addition, he is a member of InterRAI – a Canadian based outcomes measurement organisation.
